[For Beginners]Osuwa-Daiko Lessons in the Land of the Roots of a Revived
and Globally Spread Performing Art Form

Osuwa-Daiko, which has a long history and culture in the Suwa area, is a cultural art form that developed from Kagura (Shinto music and dance dedicated to the Suwa Taisha shrine) and originated and established the modern kumidaiko style of drumming.There are more than 450 groups in Japan and 15 chapters overseas, where students learn taiko drumming from the roots of Osuwa-Daiko.This is a hands-on tour for beginners to learn about the world of such Osuwa -Daiko and the original spirituality of wadaiko.You will also have a special opportunity to observe the repair and production of taiko drums.

GUIDE

OsuwaDaiko Successor Makoto Yamamoto
Born into the family of OsuwaDaiko, which continues to pass down the Daidai Kagura of Suwa Grand Shrine, he studied under both Daihachi Oguchi, head of the OsuwaDaiko family, and Mikio Yamamoto, director of the same school. He grew up touring both domestically and internationally, and served as head of the children's club and chairman. As a soloist, he has performed with Kitaro and others since he was a teenager in the large song ``Ashura'' (composed by Daihachi Oguchi), which is played using a combination of five types of drums.
